Frequently Asked Questions

Shipping & Delivery

How long does shipping take?

Orders are typically printed within 2–5 business days before shipment.

After shipping, delivery times depend on destination and local carriers. Most orders arrive within several business days, while some international shipments may occasionally take longer due to customs processing or local postal services.

All orders include tracking information once shipped.

If you need more specific shipping estimates for your location, feel free to contact us at support@dorkmatter.co.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes — we currently ship to the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Israel, United Arab Emirates, Norway, and Switzerland.

Shipping rates and delivery times vary depending on destination. Please see our Shipping Policy for detailed information, or contact us at support@dorkmatter.co if you have questions about your location.

Will I receive tracking information?

Yes — all orders include tracking information once shipped.

You’ll receive a shipping confirmation email with a tracking link as soon as your order is on the move. You do not need the Shop app to track your package.

Why does fulfillment take a few days?

Every Dork Matter shirt is printed specifically for you after the order is placed.

That means your order needs time to be printed, prepared, and packed before shipping — usually within 2–5 business days. This helps us avoid mass-producing inventory while offering a large variety of designs and colors.

Where are orders shipped from?

Orders are produced and shipped through our print partners’ fulfillment centers located closest to the delivery destination whenever possible.

This helps reduce shipping times and avoids sending your shirt on an unnecessary world tour before it reaches you.

Will I have to pay customs fees or import taxes?

International orders may occasionally be subject to customs fees, import taxes, or local handling charges depending on your country’s regulations.

These charges are determined by local customs authorities and are the responsibility of the customer.

Sizing & Shirts

Are the shirts true to size?

Yes — our shirts are generally true to size with a modern unisex fit.

If you prefer a looser fit, consider sizing up. We also recommend checking the size chart on each product page for exact measurements before ordering.

Since every shirt is printed to order, taking a quick look at the measurements before purchasing is always a good idea.

How should I wash the shirts?

To keep your shirt looking fresh for as long as possible:

✔ Wash inside out
✔ Use cold or low-temperature water
✔ Use mild detergent
✔ Avoid excessive heat while drying
✔ Air dry when possible
✔ Iron inside out on low heat if needed

Like most printed apparel, your shirt will last longest when treated gently.

Are the shirts soft or heavyweight?

Our shirts are lightweight and soft rather than thick or heavyweight.

They’re made from soft ring-spun cotton with a comfortable everyday feel that works well for casual wear, layering, and extended periods of scientific confusion.

Do the shirts shrink after washing?

Minimal shrinkage is normal for cotton shirts, especially after the first wash.

Following the recommended care instructions — washing inside out with cold water and avoiding excessive heat — will help keep the fit and print looking their best.

Printing & Quality

What shirts do you print on?

All our shirts are printed on Gildan 64000 softstyle tees — lightweight, soft, and comfortable enough for extended existential crises.

They’re made from soft ring-spun cotton and designed for everyday wear.

Most colors are 100% ring-spun cotton. Sport Grey contains a small amount of polyester.

You can find detailed sizing information and measurements on each product page.

How are the shirts printed?

All designs are printed using high-detail DTG (direct-to-garment) printing directly onto the fabric.

This printing method allows us to produce sharp, durable prints with a soft feel and detailed linework — especially important for scientifically questionable diagrams and tiny existential details.

Because each shirt is printed individually after ordering, we can create a wide variety of designs without mass-producing inventory.

Why are the shirts printed to order?

Every Dork Matter shirt is printed specifically after you place an order rather than mass-produced in advance.

This allows us to offer a large variety of designs and colors while reducing unnecessary waste and overproduction. It also means your shirt is made specifically for you — which feels slightly more scientific.

Will the print fade or crack?

Our shirts are printed using high-quality DTG printing designed for everyday wear.

Like any printed apparel, some natural aging will happen over time, but proper washing and care help keep the print looking sharp for a long time. Washing inside out and avoiding excessive heat will help extend the life of the design.

Are the designs printed or vinyl?

Our designs are printed directly onto the fabric using DTG (direct-to-garment) printing.

We do not use vinyl transfers, so the prints have a softer feel and work better for detailed artwork and fine linework.

Returns & Issues

What if my shirt doesn’t fit or arrives damaged?

Do you offer refunds or exchanges?

Yes — if there’s a problem with your order, contact us and we’ll do our best to make it right.

We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee, including sizing issues, damaged items, or printing problems. If something feels off, just reach out to us at support@dorkmatter.co.

We still recommend checking the size chart before ordering, since every shirt is printed specifically for you.

Style & Humor

What kind of humor is Dork Matter based on?

Dork Matter is built around dry humor, subtle references, scientific absurdity, and the general experience of knowing slightly too much about very specific topics.

Some jokes are immediate. Others require a physics degree, an existential crisis, or both.

Are the jokes meant to be subtle?

Usually, yes.

Some designs are intentionally understated and look like normal graphics until somebody notices the scientific reference, terrible pun, or deeply specific joke hidden inside.

Others are slightly less subtle. Scientific chaos exists on a spectrum.

What kind of people wear Dork Matter shirts?

Usually curious, intelligent, slightly overthinking humans (mostly).

Our customers include scientists, programmers, engineers, students, introverts, astronomy nerds, math people, and individuals who somehow turned existential dread into a personality trait.

Are Dork Matter shirts good gifts?

Yes — especially for people who enjoy science, technology, dark humor, obscure references, or quietly alarming levels of curiosity.

Dork Matter shirts are popular gifts for programmers, engineers, scientists, students, professors, astronomy nerds, and introverts who already own enough normal clothing.

Yes — all Dork Matter designs are created specifically for our store.

We create our own artwork, layouts, and concepts inspired by science, technology, dark humor, and the general experience of overthinking everything.

Some designs are built around classic scientific jokes, references, or ideas, but every design is illustrated and developed in the Dork Matter style.

Who creates the designs?

What is Dork Matter’s "Why"?

Dork Matter exists to help intelligent, curious, and overthinking people express themselves and connect through shared humor, curiosity, and obscure references.

The shirts are just the delivery mechanism.

Are these officially licensed designs?

No — Dork Matter is an independent brand.

Our designs are original artworks inspired by science, technology, history, space exploration, and nerd culture. References to scientific concepts, missions, or historical figures are used for commentary, humor, and educational inspiration rather than official affiliation.
